Went through all of the guides last night and updated everything. Layout is still pretty terrible (need to sit down and design something instead of just spewing words…a writer’s lament) but all the info is there. Quickie links for those coming in via RSS:

Also, I’ve started contributing Monk columns to WoW Insider. My first one is here, which is a condensed version of my windwalker guide. Subscribe to them; great guys. As always, if you want to contact me, best way is to leave a comment here or drop me a line via Twitter at @alaronmonk or @alarondruid.

(also crossposted on ej)

Did a quick ten-minute test of Tiger Strikes, here’s what I’ve determined-

1. TS currently procs 5 attacks, even though the tooltip says 4.
2. The extra attacks show up as “Tiger Strikes” and can be dodged, just like reguler attacks.
3. Extra attacks are independent; if TS is up, a dodged white swing can still have a proc’d TS swing.
4. There is no ICD on the proc. I’ve had TS proc once and the first TS’d attack proc it again. What I currently don’t know is if TS can proc off itself; I’d guess not, but larger logs with statistical analysis would be required to say for sure.
5. A Tiger Strikes proc when TS is already up refreshes the melee attack speed buff and adds stacks (attacks).
6. At first blush, the proc rate looks to be lower that the 10% stated on the tooltip; more like 6-7% or so. Again, need more data.

From mmo-c:

  • Blackout Kick damage was increased. Windwalkers gained an additional effect: If behind the target, you deal an additional 20% damage over 4 sec. If in front of the target, you are instantly healed for 20% of the damage done.
  • Expel Harm healing was changed to (3.15 * (MainHand DPS + 50% of OffHand DPS + 7.1% of AP – 1)) to (3.15 * (MainHand DPS + 50% of OffHand DPS + 7.1% of AP + 1)).
  • Resuscitate now costs 20% of Base Mana / 50 Energy, down from 67% Base Mana / 100 Energy.

Brewmaster

Windwalker

  • Adaptation: Your chance to dodge is increased by 25% for 5 sec rather than 1% until cancelled.
  • Combat Conditioning (New) Your Blackout Kick now also deals an additional 20% damage over 4 sec if behind the target or heals you for 20% of the damage done if if front of the target. Monk – Windwalker Spec.

The new patch isn’t live yet, so I can’t test these changes, but Blackout Kick got a huge buff across the board. Damage doubled, first off. Second, Windwalkers get either 20% more damage if attacking from behind, or a 20% of damage heal if attacking from the front. That should stick it back in the rotation, though I’ll wait to edit the guide until I can test it to be sure. The Expel Harm tooltip is a bit unclear; can’t tell if it now scales off both SP and AP or just changed from SP to AP. That’ll make quite a difference for BM/WW, obviously. Everything else is pretty much expected, though the tanking stance change is interesting. I’d have to look to see what boss specials were Physical-type.

Oh, and free interrupts. I think that’s mostly universal now, or will be (otherwise QQ about X tank with free interrupts is better because they can spend more resources on mitigation).

I’ve just completely redone the Windwalker guide page; think it turned out pretty well and I’ll reuse the “ability table” design for abilities. Still need to rework formatting for the other text blocks, but I’m okay with it for now.

Next I’ll start working on the other specs, which are a bit harder to test since they require something big hitting you or hitting someone else. I wish they’d add a training dummy that attacks you.

As you might have seen from my post over on TFD, I got bit by D3 and then RL, respectively. I haven’t touched a computer in a week and the beta realms in 2-3, so I’m getting caught back up. Obviously, the guides are a bit out of date, and I’ll slowly be getting those caught back up.
